The Challenge

Wellness branding has a default setting: green palettes, organic textures, fitness-coded imagery, and language that over-explains every ingredient. Baren Lab wanted none of it. The challenge was building a brand that could live inside the functional nutrition space without looking like it belonged there — something that felt closer to a design object than a supplement, and closer to editorial culture than commercial health messaging.

The identity had to work across packaging, digital, and content — all while maintaining the tension that defines the concept: clinical but emotional, structured but intuitive, minimal but expressive.

The Strategy

The core insight was to treat the brand as a laboratory rather than a product line. Each SKU is a formulation, not a commodity. Each flavor is a sensory profile, not an ingredient list. This reframing shaped every visual and verbal decision — moving away from descriptive, literal branding toward abstract, evocative language that creates intrigue instead of explaining itself. The design language borrows from lab labeling systems and reinterprets them through a contemporary, design-forward lens.

Brand Identity

The identity system is typography-driven and highly reduced. Bold, dominant type functions as the primary visual element — anchored by strong negative space, asymmetrical compositions, and an editorial layout logic that makes each touchpoint feel considered rather than templated. At small sizes it retains precision. At large formats it commands attention without decoration.

Color usage is intentional and restrained — shifting subtly across flavor variations to signal differentiation while keeping the system unified. The packaging structure is modular and scalable: consistent typographic hierarchy, technical-style information treated as a design element, and a composition logic that makes each product feel part of a series without feeling identical.
